Project #4 this summer. New Garage Door(s)

Only one of our garage doors currently opens, the other has to be manually lifted.  To complete this project will will need to also get a garage door opener for the larger of the two doors.

We plan  to get a new large energy efficient door to match the existing small door.  The large door is not insulated and lets considerable amounts of cold air in during the winter months.

the second part of this project is to turn these standard garage doors into faux carriage doors by using a commercially available kit.  The picture above is magnetic hardware attached to a standard garage door.

We will also purchase magnetic window kits for the look of a window on the door as well.  I have no idea how it will actually look when everything is said and done.  I hope it looks fairly real.  Skymall has a really nice "carriage" door kit.  That's a picture of it to the left.  I can only hope that it actually turns out like this.

    In order to eliminate the risk of accidents, it is necessary to keep the doors as smooth as possible. Proper inspection, regular maintenance and check-up are necessary to ensure safety and security as well. Ill-maintained garage doors instigate the potential risk of accidents, which may put life under threat. Therefore, it should not be left unprotected for long periods and immediate consultation and maintenance is recommended.

    The garage door with windows is way better than its conventional counterpart - the one with no window. Aside from the aesthetic factor, it will also provide you with natural light during the day. This way, you wouldn't have to turn on the light inside your garage always, and that can result to some utility bill savings! =)

    It’s been six months since the start date, I suppose the project is already done. So, how did everything turn out? The energy efficient door plan sounds exciting! You will indeed save a lot from installing materials in your house that are in favor of saving energy. Anyway, I hope you update on the results.

    It’s great that you not just came up with a garage door that has a good design but also something that will help you save energy as well. It’s really important that today, people will spend on more energy and cost-efficient items. ;)
