The "5-year" plan

When we moved into our house in 2005, we had agreed that it was a 5 year plan. In five years, the house would be painted and landscaped to our tastes. It would be done...

It's 2011.
The projects are never-ending, we have a dirt mound in our driveway the size of a suburban, It's dark out and we're still working... hit it.

Welcome to our journal about dirt, gardens and beer.

At 9:00 this morning the mad dash to dig a new garden began.  We started our day at Menards to rent a truck, only to go to home depot to rent the sod cutter.  Odd isn't it?  Anyway, we got the sod cutter home and began the cutting of our new "evergreen garden".
The dirt pile.  Notice how it is larger than the suzuki?

Some of the plants planned for the install.  In the background is the "stolen" rock... all 3 tons of it.
It was cold, wet and muddy.  We doubled the size of our dirt pile in just one afternoon.  After the dirt had been dug and our backs had been broken, we went to menards to purchase some plants/shrubs to install in our new garden.  Although i have dirt in my underpants and my hair is matted, I feel fantastic!  I can't wait until tomorrow.   We have 6 yards of topsoil being delivered, then we begin on rock and plant installation.
